Task 2
Questions 6-10
You will hear people talking in five situations.
For each question (6-10), choose the correct answer (A, B or C).
You will hear each recording twice.
A: Are you ready for the marathon tomorrow?
B: Yes. Are you going to watch me?
A: Of course. Just tell me where to go and when.
B: All the runners have to register half an hour before the race starts. So I aim to get there at 12:30 as even the fastest runners won't be arriving until after 3. Try finding a place near the finish line an hour before then.
A: Hello. Dr. Gray speaking.
B: Hello, Doctor. Could I make an appointment to see you? It's urgent.
A: Are you a visitor in town?
B: I am, yes.
A: I see. Could I take your name, please?
B: Certainly. It's Mr. McGeary.
A: How do you spell that, please?
B: It's spelt M C G E A R Y.
A: Thank you. Could you come this evening at 6:30?
A: I hear Cassie is leaving work.
B: It's about time. She's been there forever. She must be exhausted climbing those steps every day.
A: I don't know. She loves the atmosphere. It's actually all that new technology she refuses to deal with.
B: Well, now she can finally make that trip to Canada to visit her friends.
A: She should take the opportunity now she has the time.
A: Have you met Katia's new boyfriend yet?
B: Ian? Yes, I met them both in the park.
A: Is he as quiet as everyone says?
B: Not really. It's true that he's not exactly chatty, but he does seem to know what he's talking about.
A: How do you mean?
B: He loved explaining to me exactly what they're doing in IT lessons. He really got into it. I must say the lessons sound rather difficult.
A: So, how did you enjoy the concert last night?
B: I was sure I was going to hate it. That kind of music always seemed boring before.
A: So this time was different?
B: I still can't quite believe it, mind you. But it does look really old fashioned, and they let themselves down wearing those ridiculous clothes.
A: But that's tradition.
B: It's a strange way to do things, in my opinion.
