Four Women Who Made History in the Sciences


On February 11th we celebrate the International Day for Women and Girls in Science, remembering the (0) role that women have played in the world of science.
Here’s a list of four women that made history in the sciences.
The daughter of the romantic poet Lord Byron, Ada Lovelace (1815–1852), was the first programmer in history. She found out that machines can understand symbols.

Marie Curie (1867–1934) was the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize and the first person to receive medals in two different fields, (22)

physics and chemistry.

Together with Pierre Curie and Henri Becquerel she discovered two elements, radium and polonium, for (23)

she received her second Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Jane Goodall (1934) is an expert in chimpanzees as well as the (24)

important scientist in her field. When she worked with chimpanzees, she named every animal that she worked with. This was originally criticized but now it’s common practice.

for being a major activist fighting to save the planet.
Elizabeth Blackburn (1948) is an Australian Doctor of Biology who won a Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2009. Her research is important for the study of cancer therapies.
