Across the water, but a world away!

There is an island that lies off the state of South Australia. It has 540 kilometres of coastline and is 150 kilometres long! It is Australia’s third largest island, after Tasmania and Melville Island. Here, wildlife, adventure and exploring, beaches, local wines and sunsets are all on your doorstep.
It is almost impossible to describe the beauty of Kangaroo Island. There are high cliffs, thick forests, great sand dunes, wetlands and white beaches. It is wild but at the same time welcoming. Island Beach, also known as Millionaire’s Row, is the most charming beach on Ki, as the locals call the island.
The island was mapped by the French explorer Nicolas Baudin after the British explorer Matthew Flinders landed there in 1800. It was Australia’s first free settlement and was home to sealers, escaped convicts and runaway sailors.
Kangaroo Island is also a place that has offered protection to large populations of native Australian animals. There are koalas sleeping in eucalyptus trees, and pelicans flying over lagoons. However, the one that is likely to impress you, and the most massive, is of course the famous grey kangaroo.
There is certainly a lot to do and see on the island. You can go diving, snorkelling or riding. You can go on a safari or swim with dolphins. For those who are brave enough, sandboarding is an ideal choice. No matter how active you want to be, there’s something for everyone!
